According to officials, 100 farmers from various villages in Chenab valley were taught basic technical know-how to produce aromatic plants on Sunday as part of the Union Government’s ‘Aroma Mission 2’.

According to authorities, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM) Jammu held a day-long training and awareness workshop on ‘cultivation, processing, value addition, and marketing of aromatic crops.’

According to them, 100 farmers from Doda, Kishtwar, and Ramban districts participated in the awareness programme.

The chief guest, Col Rajat Parmar, Commanding Officer of the Bhaderwah-based 4-Rashtriya Rifles, praised the efforts of CSIR-IIIM and encouraged the region’s unemployed youth to take advantage of the Aroma Mission’s opportunities.

He assured that the Army will provide all essential assistance to the farmers and unemployed youngsters of Bhadarwah. 

  • To encourage the growing of aromatic crops for the production of essential oils, which are in high demand in the aroma sector.
  • To assist Indian farmers and the aroma business in becoming worldwide leaders in the production and export of some other essential oils that are in demand.
  • To give significant benefits to farmers in terms of increased earnings, wasteland utilization, and crop protection from wild and grazing animals.
  • Apart from aligning with the government’s policy of doubling agricultural incomes by 2022, the mission also employed women farmers, therefore promoting inclusive growth.
