Arunachal Pradesh government launched two schemes to boost the state’s agriculture sector. One in agriculture named ‘AtmaNirbhar Krishi Yojna’ and the other for horticulture named ‘AtmaNirbhar Bagwani Yojna’. The schemes are part of the Atma Nirbhar program announced during the Budget session. A total amount of Rs 120 crores – Rs 60 crore for each scheme has been allocated to the two concerned departments of Agriculture and Horticulture.
The main objective of the scheme is the welfare of the farmers across the state. Under this scheme, the farmers will be provided assistance through credit support and subsidies.
It aims at relieving them from the vicious debt circle of the money lenders and ensuring agricultural development in the state. It tends to increase overall agricultural productivity thereby doubling the income of farmers.
After launching the schemes, Chief Minister Pema Khandu said that “The schemes will immensely benefit farmers and Self Help Groups (SHGs) across the state, and appealed all to get in touch with their respective district administrations to get the details and avail the schemes.
He added that these two schemes are unique as they are both based on front-ended subsidies. He said credit links will be provided to the beneficiaries by SBI, Arunachal Pradesh Rural Bank, and Arunachal Pradesh Cooperative Apex Bank.
The chief minister informed that the components of the schemes will be 45% govt subsidy, 45% bank loan and only 10% will have to be borne by the farmer.”
