The Bengal government runs the Krishak Bandhu Yojana for farmers. This scheme will provide financial assistance to 76 lakh farmers during the Rabi season of 2021-22. The Bengal government will transfer a total of Rs 2500 crore to the accounts of these farmers under this scheme. Let us clarify that the amount given by the state government to the state’s 76 lakh farmers will differ from the amount given in the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.
A total of 63 lakh farmers of the state got the benefit of the scheme during the Kharif season. But between Kharif season and Rabi season, 13.55 lakh new beneficiaries have been registered under Krishak Bandhu Yojana. Now the total number of beneficiaries has increased to 76 lakhs and this time the government has planned to send 2500 crores.
According to an Agriculture Department official, the process of providing the scheme’s benefits to all 76 lakh farmers is currently underway. The second instalment of the annual benefit under the Krishak Bandhu Scheme is typically distributed in December or January. A senior state government official stated that the date of disbursement of funds under the scheme would be announced soon. Let us remind you that money was transferred to farmers’ accounts earlier this month, on June 17, 2021, under this scheme.
Prior to May of this year, farmers were eligible for a maximum of Rs 6000 under the scheme. However, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee increased the amount given to farmers only after taking office following this year’s elections. The amount is distributed to farmers in two instalments under the Krishak Bandhu Yojana. Explain that under the Krishak Bandhu Yojana, farmers with one acre or more of cultivable land receive 5000 to 10,000 rupees. There is a provision for farmers with less than one acre of land to receive at least Rs 4000.
