Since the commencement of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme in February 2019, the Centre has disbursed Rs 299.26 crore to over 2 lakh beneficiary farmers in Nagaland, Parliament was notified on Tuesday.

A financial reward of Rs 6,000 per year is granted to eligible farmer families under the PM-KISAN scheme, payable in three equal installments of Rs 2,000.

“A total of 2,06,523 beneficiaries have been provided financial benefits of more than Rs 299.26 crore through various installment under PM-KISAN Scheme in the State of Nagaland,” Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.

The Centre transferred Rs 5.55 crore in the first year of the scheme’s implementation, then Rs 91.82 crore and Rs 122.19 crore in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 fiscal years, respectively.

According to the data presented by Tomar, the central government has transferred Rs 79.70 crore to beneficiary farmers in the current fiscal year 2021-22.

Tomar responded to another query on cold chain storage facilities in the north-eastern region by saying that the government is executing several projects to improve cold chain storage facilities around the country, including in the north-eastern region.

According to the data, there were 71 cold storage facilities with a total installed capacity of 2,75,401 tonne as of September 30, with Assam having the most capacity, followed by Tripura and Meghalaya.
