Sugar mills have exported 9.39 lakh tonnes of the sweetener so far in the current 2021-22 marketing year, which began on October 1, and are not in a rush to sell further stock due to the sluggish global price trend, according to trade association AISTA. According to the All India Sugar Trade Association (AISTA), about 4.68 lakh tonnes of sugar are in transit.
Mills have signed contracts to export 33 lakh tonnes of sugar without government subsidies so far, according to the statement.
From October to September is the sugar marketing season. This year’s sugar exports will not be subsidised by the government.
From October 1 to December 6, 2021, mills shipped a total of 9,39,435 tonnes of sugar, according to AISTA.
“Sugar mills in India are not in a hurry to sell because prior sales have yet to be completed. They also dislike current global prices, which will need to rise in order to attract more Indian sales “According to AISTA.
Maharashtra mills have been involved in the largest export transactions. The mills in this state are having major logistical issues. As a result, there are severe transportation issues, both by train and by road, according to the report.
The country exported a record 7.23 million tonnes of the sweetener during the marketing year 2020-21. The majority of the exports were made with the assistance of government subsidies.
